Yarn Bombed Vespa Scooter by Magda Sayeg

Has weaving a sweater for your Vespa ever entered your thoughts?

It’s crossed the psyche of Magda Sayeg, the ‘yarn bombing’ queen.

Yarn Bombing or graffiti knitting is a type of street art that employs colorful displays of knitted or crocheted yarn rather than paint or chalk.  The movement spearheaded by Sayeg herself,  drove her to weave a five wheel Vespa with sidecar.  5 wheels,..?

Even though we would not recommend riding your Vespa wearing only a bikini bottom, knitting allowed Magda the possibility to match her wardrobe to that of her ride.  Magda’s, five wheel beach Vespa might not be for everyone, nonetheless it demonstrates the boundless possibilities for the cultural icon.   View other works of Madga Sayeg on her webpage.
