The Vespa Special Edition 946 is the first design in a new collection celebrating the lunar calendar. The Vespa 946 “bunny” celebrates the year of the Rabbit, based on Chinese Zodiac folklore, and is available in a limited, numbered series of one thousand units. In the following twelve years, Vespa will introduce a new edition each year inspired by that year’s horoscope animal.

The limited edition scooter features all-Italian craftsmanship, with burnished finishes, hand-stitched leather seats, and grips, and is topped off with dedicated logos. The company’s traditional green has been updated, featuring distinctive “rabbits” peeking out from the body, representing the zodiac signs’ affinity for fun, humor, and the alfresco.

The 155cc engine provides the lightweight 946 with quick acceleration. Thanks to its agile handling, comfort, and sophisticated safety systems, including traction control and ABS, the “bunny” is ideal for smoothly navigating city traffic and extended weekend rides.

What is the Lunar Calendar

The lunar calendar is a calendar based on cycles of the Moon’s phases rather than the solar cycle of 365.25 days. The lunar calendar is used by many cultures worldwide, including in China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, and various other parts of Asia, as well as some cultures in the Middle East and Africa.

Chinese Folklore

The names of the lunar years are taken from Chinese folklore and represent various animals. The 12 zodiac animals are rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog, and pig. They are repeated every 12 years and follow one another in a set order.
