Vespa Sweeps First NASCAR Sanctioned National Open Class Scooter Race

Nascar know primary for its automotive racing pedegri, on July 11, 1959 sanctioned the first National Open Class Scooter Race at N.Y. Polo Grounds. The Vespa pilots were riding the Vespa Grande Sport (G.S.) and from starting flag to the checkered flag the Vespa G.S.’s led the way.  Finishing in 5 out of the first 6 spots,  Sweeping the first Nascar National Open Class Scooter Race.
