There are cities and towns which are more appreciative of the scooters small environmental footprint, whose governing bodies have a better understanding of the positive impact of these vehicles on their roads and, as a result, are more accommodating.

Riding and parking a scooter in a big city poses risks to both rider and vehicle. Even when parked the smaller scooters are vulnerable to damage from automobiles and vandalism.
