Vesparize™ your Vespa scooter by easily adding a windscreen
Whether it’s for riding down the highway, or in cold weather, a fly screen or windscreen is absolutely vital for your bike or scooter. They are inexpensive and easy to install, and offer essential protection from road debris and the elements alike.
The following instructions in this article were written with the Cuppini fly screen in mind, but the installation process is pretty much the same for all other major brands of screens, so you shouldn’t have too much trouble adapting them to your particular windscreen!

Step by step fly screen windscreen installation instructions
1- Firstly, fit the washers through the openings in the screen, taking care to make sure the concave side is facing the front.
2- Next, assemble the screen attachments according to the instruction manual. This will differ from make to make, but as long as you use some common sense, you shouldn’t have any trouble with this step.
3- Depending on what direction the attachments are turned when the screen is fitted to the support brackets, the screen will either sit low or high, as well as affecting how far forward it is. Check this now, to make sure things are fitted to your preferences.
4- Some windscreens come with their support brackets already in one piece, whereas others may require some assembly on your part. If the latter is the case for you, then don’t worry- the picture below shows the order you’ll need to put them in, and the process is as simple as fitting the nuts on in the right order.
5- With the brackets all fully assembled, it’s now time to fit them onto the scooter itself. You’ll find the slot underneath the handlebars, and the support brackets should easily slide into these slots.
6- Now it’s time to push the support brackets through the applicable slots. You should lightly tighten the support bracket nut using your hand, to check that everything has fitted together properly. Then slip the fly screen onto the supports, before finally tightening them securely with a suitable wrench.
7-Now that you’ve got the hard part out of the way, all that’s left to do is to fit the screen attachments through the support brackets. Be sure to adjust the screen’s position to your preferred angle before giving the supports a final tightening with a screwdriver to fit it securely- but take care not to over tighten them!
8- Well done- your wind screen is now fitted securely! You might want to remove the rubber trim from the bottom of the screen in order to get a more stylish, streamlined look, but be careful that it doesn’t sit on the handlebar cover, or else it might scratch some of the paint off.
